About Us

Brings that four-decade legacy to American soil.

Our journey began in 1982 when Rajeev T. Shandilya established Sushila Forgings Limited – a 100% export-oriented factory with 20,000 MT annual capacity, specializing in steel fabrication, forging, and casting.

For over a decade, we manufactured critical parts and specialized forgings for the energy sector, including coal and oil & gas, earning seven national export awards.

Expanding globally, we set up a US subsidiary in 1993, followed by Starasia Components Limited in China in 2004. Through Starasia, we pioneered contract manufacturing of steel clad plates for major energy projects – most notably the 2000 MW Subansiri Hydro Power Project in India.

Today, StarUSA Minerals and Metals brings that four-decade legacy to American soil. We offer engineering, design, and manufacturing of mineral processing plants, industrial machinery, and stainless steel composite plates for marine and special applications. While we build our own US factory, we are ready to supply you now – backed by a proven global network and a family legacy of quality, export excellence, and mission-critical reliability.

Our Mission

“To deliver engineered reliability – from our past to your future,

from global resources to American soil.”.

The Backbone of Defense

The Resilience Shift—Cost Arbitrage is Dead

The era of cost arbitrage is over; we have entered the age of Mandatory Resilience. The global industrial landscape has shifted from a globalized, "just-in-time" model to a localized, "just-in-case" architecture.

The Strategic Bridge

One of the most effective tools for reshoring is the Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ). Operating within an FTZ allows for "Tariff Engineering," reducing compliance labor costs and offering significant duty savings. The roadmap from "site-selected" to a "live, operational factory" is a complex journey.

Intelligence in the Ore

The "Glass Battlefield" and Energy Scarcity. The industrial sector is facing a "perfect storm." Retail electricity rates are rising by more than 5% annually, and the "glass battlefield"—where commercial satellite imagery makes ground operations transparent to all actors

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

What primary obstacle prevents the efficient extraction of gold from crushed mobile phone printed circuit boards (PCBs) during ammonium thiosulfate leaching!

The primary obstacle to efficiently extracting gold from crushed mobile phone printed circuit boards (PCBs) using ammonium thiosulfate is the dual and contradictory role of copper, a major component of the PCBs themselves. While copper is a necessary catalyst in the thiosulfate leaching system, its simultaneous dissolution from the PCBs can quickly reach a concentration that transforms it into a powerful inhibitor, primarily by causing the re-deposition of dissolved gold through cementation and the formation of passivation layers that block further reactions.

Q:

Explain the technological shift proposed by Cleveland-Cliffs Steel Corporation at its Middletown Works facility!

Cleveland-Cliffs' proposed technological shift for its Middletown Works facility represents one of the most closely watched—and recently reversed—green steel projects in the United States. In 2024, the steelmaker announced a landmark plan to transform its traditional coal-fired plant into a state-of-the-art, low-emissions facility. However, by mid-2025, the company announced it was pivoting away from this ambitious path, opting instead to refurbish its existing blast furnace to continue operating on fossil fuels for the next two decades.

Q:

What is "Project Vault," and how is it structured to benefit U.S. taxpayers and manufacturers!

Project Vault is a strategic public-private partnership created to establish the U.S. Strategic Critical Minerals Reserve. Announced on February 2, 2026, its goal is to secure America’s supply of critical minerals and protect domestic manufacturers from global supply shocks. Backed by a historic $12 billion in funding, the program is structured to create a net-positive return for taxpayers and provide manufacturers with a safety net against disruptions.

Q:

According to the Department of Energy’s April 2026 announcement, what are the three primary topic areas for the $69 million funding opportunity!

According to a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announcement on April 7, 2026, the $69 million funding opportunity is centered on three primary topic areas:

Topic Area 1: Production and material efficiency for critical materials, including rare earth elements (REEs).

Topic Area 2: Processes to refine and alloy gallium, gallium nitride, germanium, and silicon carbide.

Topic Area 3: Cost-competitive direct lithium extraction, separation, and processing.
